Gas in oil analysis (DGA = Dissolved Gas Analysis)

Due to the natural ageing processes of the oil and isolating parts, but especially under the influence of thermal or electrical faults, cracked gases are generated, which are dissolved in the oil
These slowly developing faults can be detected by means of DGA. The development of the gas concentration over time permits a trend analysis, which also enables a prognosis to be made about the transformer's service life.

  • Formation of foreign material layers on contacts
  • Abnormal decomposition of cellulose
  • Local overheating of metal parts
